Safari in Kenya - Exciting Horse Riding in the Wild
One of the most unique and interesting adventure activity to engage in Kenya is the horseback riding. Horseback riding can be combined and made part of your holiday activity or done exclusively as a horseback safari for those who are experienced drivers.
The good thing with horse back riding routes is that they avoid the tourist vans, roads or even lodges. The riders will find themselves alienated from the rest of the world and the life takes a slower pace. The camps that one is set up in are quite comfortable and managed by experienced staff. There is nothing like the thrill of hearing a load roar of a lion or watching graceful antelopes as you run along them.
One gets to ride through forests and mountains, across open vast savanna and into waterholes and rivers and up huge escarpments that are populated with wildebeest and zebras. Also get to see the elephant quietly feeding. You get to experience all of this as part of your travel experience on a horseback riding safari.
Rides are done in the shadows of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the Chyulu Hills - smoothly shaped, grass covered rolling country rising to 7,000 ft., in the Great Rift Valley, Lake Naivasha area, Masai Mara Reserve, Loita Hills and Mt. Kenya Area in Laikipia and Amboseli National Park.
Types of Horses are Somali-Arab crossbred horses, well schooled thoroughbred horses and thoroughbred cross polo ponies. There are horses to suit all riders from beginners to experts and Patent Safety horse, which have been trained to be careful with children and non-experienced riders.

Laikipia is an area in Kenya that has an enormous mix of wildlife that include the Big Five. It is famous because its the remaining reserve of the Jackson Hartebeest plus other rare species of animals including the Reticulated giraffe, Grevy Zebra, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx and the Somali Ostrich. Landowners have opted to move away from cattle ranching and embrace game animals and as a result their has been an increase in the number of hyenas and lions than they were 25 years ago.

Loisaba is an immense place where if you take a ride though it you will not come across the same view. It is much larger than 10 of the world’s largest fully fledged nations. The horses here have been reared in the wild since child birth and are close to the wild animals so are accustomed to being near them. Its advised that a reasonable level of experience is required to ride these animals.
Riding through the Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park is located North West of Mt. Kilimanjaro, on the border with Tanzania. Ride Kenya, offer horse riding safaris to one of the most game-rich parks in East Africa. The six nights, 120 mile ride starts at the Kenya/Tanzania border, goes through Amboseli National Park and end at the Chyulu Hills.
The rides feature huge game densities including herds of elephants up to 100 strong.
