Become a Singer and Performer

If you want to present an excellent performance, you may want to know several crucial things to prepare yourself. First of all, get yourself mentally and physically prepared so that your voice is ready, your body is free of stress, and you feel mentally positive to face an audience. Memorize the words of all your songs thoroughly so you feel very confident and positive about yourself.

Keep in mind that if you want a cheat sheet to help you along for your performance, give yourself permission. When someone sings it does not look good if the singer forgets or loses track of the song lyrics, as people are not impressed when that happens. Drink lots of water so that your voice is in good shape, as a mouth that isn’t hydrated will not be good for your singing.

To build your performance skills you’ll want to know how you sound when you sing. If you always sing with a band or an accompaniment tape you might be using the instruments to make your voice blend in with the music. The best way to get an impressive show is to work on a certain part that you might be having trouble with.

All great singers have something that makes them stand out, such as hand movements or stage presence or their ability to draw the crowd into their song. You’ll have to find something that creates an allure to your voice. If you have a certain appearance that you’re going for make sure it works for the crowd even when the lights are up.

Before going on stage, try to refrain from overusing your voice and don’t shout at all! Vocal cords are sensitive to overuse and abuse, and you certainly don’t want to add to the problem before an important performance. You can be a very good singer and maybe get away with a lot, but your voice is still sensitive to overuse.

Don’t dare eat any spicy food or soda pop, as the last thing you need is a noisy burp or a backup of food in your throat! Please don’t drink any form of alcohol, as it is bad for the vocal cords by dehydrating it. Instead, have some tea mixed with honey and lemon so that you soothe your vocal cords.

There are so many fine singers that constantly criticize and scrutinize themselves. Even if they receive very positive reviews after a performance, some gifted and popular singers still over analyze and dissect every performance. Some singers are very strict with guarding the quality of their voice so that they avoid problems associated with harming their vocal cords.

In order to get noticed by others as a singer, start singing at weddings, parties, or even a karaoke bar where strangers listen to you sing. Another great place to get known as a singer is at your church, where people will know you because of your singing. Keep in mind that many well known singers gradually became noticed because of their participation in local plays, church performances, or theater productions.
